Introduction to Mindful Self-Compassion for Leaders
Date: Thursday, 14 February 2019
Time: 7:15pm – 8:45pm
Location: Alliance Française, 1 Sarkies Rd, Singapore 258130
Two months into the new year and we only vaguely recall a resolution to “do better”. But what does that mean? More importantly, where do we find the inner strength to do what needs to be done and lead with confidence in the workplace?
Our greatest strength comes from emotional resilience – the ability to accept our struggles and difficult feelings with equanimity, so that we bounce back quicker and come back stronger. This is a vital skill for leaders, who must be able to rise to the occasion when their teams are depending on them.
Mindful Self-Compassion (MSC) for Leaders combines the science of mindfulness, i.e. the ability to be fully present without judgement, with self-compassion, the art of being a powerful self-coach who motivates with kindness and understanding instead of harsh criticism.
Join us for an Introduction to Mindful Self-Compassion for Leaders this Valentine’s Day – after all, self-love is the best gift we can give ourselves, and being stronger within will ultimately make us better leaders!
Participants in this Introduction to Mindful Self-Compassion for Leaders event are invited to sign up for our upcoming 8-week Mindful Self-Compassion for Leaders Course, which will run from 10 April to 12 June 2019. Your $20 registration fee for the introduction event will be deducted from the cost of the 8-week course.
What is Mindful Self-Compassion (MSC)?
Integrating the skills of mindfulness and self-compassion, MSC is an effective tool for developing emotional resilience.
Mindfulness is the first step in emotional healing. It helps us turn toward and acknowledge our difficult thoughts and feelings (such as inadequacy, sadness, anger and confusion) with a spirit of openness and curiosity.
Self-compassion involves responding to these difficult thoughts and feelings with kindness, sympathy and understanding so that we soothe and comfort ourselves when we’re hurting. Research has shown that self-compassion greatly enhances emotional well-being. It boosts happiness, reduces anxiety and depression, and can even help maintain healthy lifestyle habits such as diet and exercise.
Combining both mindfulness and self-compassion, MSC can enhance our well-being and lead to a greater sense of ease in our daily lives.

One of the best ways to cultivate a regular meditation is to join a regular practice group.
In collaboration with the Mindfulness Collective, we offer you an opportunity to connect with a mindfulness community, maintain your meditation practice, and deepen your understanding of mindfulness.
This session is for anyone who wants to deepen their mindfulness practice, find out more about meditation and it's transformative potential, and learn together with a group of like-minded practitioners. The meditation that we practice follows the Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) curriculum, by Jon Kabat Zinn.
The format typically includes:
• A short talk on a mindfulness-related theme
• Meditation practice (guided and unguided) and debrief
This sitting is open up to past MBSR/MBCT graduates or anyone who are interested in taking part in this mindfulness journey. As space is limited, please sign up only if you can attend the event.
